Description:
The primary duties of this developer position for the Database Team involve the design, development, maintenance, and documentation of data programming objects, reports, and ETL processes. Examples of Work Technical examples: Design and architect small scale databases Create standard reports using a reporting engine e.g. Reporting Services Assist with the design of database objects and schemas Define and create simple ETL processes Assist the DBA with defining database standards and processes Create, schedule, and maintain server jobs Assist developers with performance and stored procedure optimization Identify and create indexes on tables Work with vendors in evaluating and implementing new technologies. Meet with developers to perform needs analysis prior to designing a solution Assist users in determining appropriate business models Develop database objects and reports according to design specifications. Perform unit testing, integration testing, user training testing, and final acceptance testing, and modifications based on user feedback Maintain existing and new databases, make modifications, deploy updates as required Define, scope and deliver development projects Prepare reports, statuses, system documentation, technical papers, and presentations periodically. Maintain business correspondence and keep documentation current. Participate in all aspects of a development process - including planning, analysis and design, coding, testing, deployment, and support. Participate in vendor product reviews and provide feedback on review Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Candidate Technical Skills, Knowledge, and Proficiencies: Thorough understanding of a TSQL database language (e.g. SQL) Understanding of client-server computing Experience with data management Knowledge of reporting and query tools Understanding of software development lifecycle Understanding of development in a multi-system environment Familiar with warehousing and analysis Basic understanding of SQL Server configuration and server environment Understanding of ETL processes Min USD $79,341.00/Yr. Qualifications:
Preferred Technical Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Requirements: Transaction application database knowledge Data Warehouse experience Experience with geocoded data Experience with CLR functions Open Requirements/Supplemental Information Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent work experience 1-5 years IT operation with understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices 1-3 years Microsoft SQL Server experience or comparable enterprise DB experience Additional Requirements: Must be available to work during limited emergency declarations as prescribed by the City of Jacksonville Civil Service and Personnel Rules and Regulations Rules. Must be available to respond to telephone calls, meetings, and unexpected situations outside of normal work hours until situations are resolved. Must maintain existing knowledge and skills through continuing education. Must have a personal standard of high attention to detail in all work tasks. Must work well as part of a team and/or as an individual depending on the task at hand. Must be flexible with changing, and often unexpected, work demands to meet the operational needs of the agency.
