Church of the Redeemer (Episcopal) in Sarasota, FL is seeking a soprano section leader/soloist to begin with the commencement of the 2021-2022 choir season, which begins on August 19, 2021. The choir at Church of the Redeemer is an ensemble of 12 professional singers, and over 25 volunteers. The repertoire of the choir includes chant and anthems from the Anglican Choral Tradition, Renaissance polyphony, contemporary choral works, and the finest examples of choral music that are in accordance with the liturgical directions of the Episcopal church. Section leader/soloists will be models of the utmost accuracy. It is up to the section leaders to make sure their section is doing what the Organist & Choirmaster is asking for. In addition to being a section leader, solos will be assigned as they come up. The choir at Church of the Redeemer rehearses on Thursday evenings, 7-9 PM, and sings at the 9 am and 11am masses on Sundays, as well as Evensongs (5:15 pm, third Sunday of the month, Sep-May), and all major feast days including but not limited to All Saints Day, All Souls, Thanksgiving Day, Epiphany, Ash Wednesday, and Ascension. The choir sings on Christmas Eve: 3, 6, and 10 PM; and on Christmas Day at 10 AM. Holy Week and Easter masses are as follows: Palm Sunday (9 and 11 AM), Maundy Thursday (6 PM), Good Friday (12 PM), Holy Saturday Vigil (time TBD), Easter Sunday (7, 9, and 11 AM). Monetary bonuses are awarded after Christmas and Easter, with the amount based on punctuality to call times. The position is compensated as a monthly salary commensurate with experience and educational degrees. Funerals, Weddings, and other extra services not mentioned above will be compensated in addition to the monthly salary.


The ability to learn a wide range of repertoire, from Renaissance through modern-era compositions, independently and accurately, and to sing all repertoire in a manner appropriate to respective performance practice and style. -Previous experience singing in choral ensembles. -Previous experience as a Section Leader or in a similar position. -The ability to pass a background check.
