Description:
This is advanced technical work in processing and accounting for payroll and assisting in coordinating other accounting functions in the department. Work primarily involves payroll and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system administration, maintaining subsidiary payroll and pension accounts, pre-auditing, training departmental payroll preparers, preparation and timely filing of state and federal payroll reports and information returns, fringe benefit review and administration (educational reimbursement, uniform allowances, incentive pays, etc.) and related tasks. Although the work follows established policies and procedures, problem analysis and resolution involving interpretation and independent professional judgment and decision-making frequently apply. General supervision is received from the Accounting Manager, but an individual in this position must use considerable initiative and independent judgment on a regular basis. Hiring range: $47,923.20 to $55,100.00 Additional Compensation/Benefits: - Additional $3,800 employee benefit dollars; the unused balance of which can be kept as taxable income - Defined Contribution Plan 401(a) with a generous 6% City match - Benefits also include 12 paid leave days and 24 hour full access to City fitness center. Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Associate's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field and three (3) years experience performing general accounting duties in an office environment or an equivalent combination of training with specialized payroll experience At least three years experience performing general accounting duties in an office environment Experience with automated accounting and payroll systems, preferably Workday Familiarity with pertinent federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and procedures related to payroll such as tax law, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Experience with principles and procedures of financial record keeping and reporting Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Excel Valid Driver's License
