Description:
This is skilled mechanical work at the journeyman and master mechanic level. Primary responsibilities include all aspects of the maintenance and repair of diesel, gasoline or alternatively fueled vehicles and equipment including solid waste and emergency apparatus. Work is performed independently or with team members. Supervision, productivity and performance evaluations are received from a Lead Mechanic, Supervisor or Manager. Level 1 - Entry No certification's required = $24.54/hr Level 2 - Master ASE (Truck) & 2 EVT's (at least 1 Fire Apparatus) = $28.22/hr Level 3 - Master ASE (Truck) & Master EVT (Fire Apparatus) = $30.68/hr Job Description Additional Benefits: - City provides ALL Tools! - General benefits package with flexible spending accounts, leave time, etc. - Defined Contribution Plan 401(a) with a generous 6% City match - Benefits also include 12 paid holidays and 24 hour full access to City fitness center. Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: High school graduation or General Education Diploma (GED) and completion of an approved course in heavy and diesel mechanics or five (5) years experience as a heavy equipment or automotive mechanic; or an equivalent combination of training and experience Valid CDL Class 'B' driver's license or the ability to obtain within six months after employment is required The number of ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) and EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) certifications will determine level within the position; testing expenses for required certifications provided by the City; maintaining any/all certifications is the responsibility of the employee Level 1 - Entry No certification's required Level 2 - Master ASE (Truck) & 2 EVT's (at least 1 Fire Apparatus) Level 3 - Master ASE (Truck) & Master EVT (Fire Apparatus) Valid Driver’s License
